Tony's Bio

My name is Tony Young, I am an experienced guitarist, playing for 35 years. I teach electric and acoustic guitar, Bass, and 7 string electric guitar. I was first introduced to the guitar at age 10, when my Dad won a 'Tiesco' guitar in a poker game. I spent the first few years practicing and going through numerous books and albums to learn as much as possible about the instrument. At age fifteen I started my first band 'Damnation', which played around the Detroit area with other bands of the late 70's and early 80's. 'Damnation' was together for about seven years until we disbanded in 1983. After that I formed another group called 'Sweet Revenge' that did well around the Detroit area, but in the fall of 1985 the band broke up. Early the next year, I recorded a two song demo that I submitted to one of the local radio stations "battle of the bands" contest, and won a spot to perform going under the name 'Myth'. After leaving 'Myth', I rejoined members of 'Damnation' out in California to form 'Final Warning'. After touring throughout the Western U.S. the band move back to Detroit. We played together for another few years doing shows around the area, until I decided to pursue a career teaching guitar and theory while writing and recording the music for my first solo instrumental guitar CD 'Saturn Five".

Now, still teaching, I am also running my own recording studio and working on my second CD (still untitled).
